At Beach Love Jewelry, quality is important to us, not only of the material itself, but where it comes from. We know where each gemstone and diamond are from, and how our gold and silver was made. We're proud to use materials that are fair trade, ethically, and sustainably sourced. Our jewelry is fashioned using 14kt Gold Filled, 14kt Rose Gold filled, or Argentium Silver. (14kt & 18kt Gold are available by request, contact us for a quote).

Gold Filled and Why

Most jewelry you see on the market today is Gold plated or dipped and becomes dull, tarnished, and quickly wears down with everyday wear. At Beach Love, we want your jewelry to last years, which is why we use Gold Filled.

Gold Filled is the best alternative to fine Gold, at a fraction of the cost. Simply put, it is a thick layer of a Gold exterior “filled” with another metal, like brass or copper. It's layer of Gold is 50-100x thicker than Gold Plated, Gold Dipped, or Vermeil. It has a stronger bond to its core, being fused together, making it incredibly durable with the ability to last decades. Because the Gold layer is so thick, Gold Filled jewelry is hypoallergenic for most people. If you can wear 14kt Gold without a reaction, you'll have no problem with 14kt Gold Filled.

Using Gold Filled material for jewelry is also a much more sustainable way of creating jewelry than using other materials. Our leftover scraps is sent back to be melted down, the Gold and other metal separated, and recycled!

Argentium Silver

An option besides Gold Filled jewelry, here at Beach Love we use Argentium Silver. Sterling Silver is made up of 92.5% pure Silver, and the remainder other alloys (like copper or nickel). Argentium contains up to 96% pure Silver, other alloys, and a touch of germanium. Not only is it stronger, more durable, and 7 times more tarnish resistant, it's also brighter and whiter than traditional Sterling Silver. With no nickle, it is also hypoallergenic for those with sensitive skin.

Lastly, Argentium is a sustainable alloy. It's made from 100% recycled silver and the creators of Argentium guarantee the tracability of all the silver it uses. Using recycled silver sounds like a small thing, but it has a large impact on the environment. Not only does recycling silver use just 5% of the energy it would take to refine silver from ore, it also eliminates the need for mining, mining waste, and mining groundwater pollution.

Our gemstones & diamonds are authentic and ethically sourced from conflict free, fair trade suppliers. Nothing compares to matching the beauty of authentic semi-precious and precious gemstones, which is why they are the main feature on many of our pieces.

Each seashell and piece of beach glass featured in our designs was hand picked from the sands of the North Shore's beautiful beaches as well as on Melissa & ohana's travels throughout Polynesia.
